Slovenian Klančar Cranes (Klančar žerjavi d.o.o.), under the direction of Andrej Klančar, erected two Raimondi MRT186 cranes in Rovinj, Croatia. The jobsite, Hotel Park, requires heavy lifting machinery to facilitate concrete pouring, formwork and rebar positioning, as well as moving other necessary materials for the large-scale construction operation. With jib lengths of 54 meters, the height under hook (H.U.H.) of the cranes are 44.70 meters and 41.75 meters.
The Hotel Park jobsite is under privately-owned contractor Kamgrad d.o.o., one of the most influential and successful companies operating in the Balkan’s residential and commercial building sectors
Projected to be onsite for a period of 11 months, Klančar explains that the MRT186s were chosen for both strength and agility: “The biggest advantage of these two cranes is maximum capacity of 10,000 kg, and the capacity at the end of the jib. This enables undisturbed and quick supply of concrete and other materials that are being utilized onsite,” he explained. The two erections, performed separately with a 160 tonne mobile crane, each took 20 hours from start to finish with all settings, testing and adjustments made. “We believe Raimondi cranes have extraordinarily strong structure based on our experiences with the models that we now have in our fleet– this is a feature that guarantees safe operation post erection. Our jobsites on the Croatian coast and in parts of Slovenia often expose cranes to high wind speeds of up to 200 km per hour. Therefore, we need to ensure that we’re always working with secure and robust crane models.”

With a current fleet of 70 cranes, primarily self-erecting and tower models, the second-generation strong family business was founded by Andrej’s father as a supplier of a compressed air solutions for the construction sector. He then began to diversify operations and build the beginnings of a crane fleet with 10 models. Currently operating across the Balkans, including in Serbia and Croatia, Andrej has headed the company since 2008. “Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro are all covered quite easily from our base in Slovenia. Our headquarters in Sežana are only two hours from Austria and literally 10 minutes from Trieste in Italy, so these are few potential areas which are expected to lead to expansion and further company growth.”

The Hotel Park jobsite is under privately-owned contractor Kamgrad d.o.o., one of the most influential and successful companies operating in the Balkans’ residential and commercial building sectors. “Klančar was awarded this important site due to our ability to provide cranes with enough capacity to withstand long concrete pouring periods, amongst other reasons. Our headquarters is relatively close to Rovinj, and we are happy to provide quick service in the event it is needed. Speedy solution implementation is prioritized and integral to the tourism construction sector, and we’re advantageously positioned to meet that requirement,” continued Klančar. The company previously collaborated with Kamgrad in 2016 on a shopping center development in Belgrade, erecting five cranes for a period of six months and providing full technical and operator support to the site.
