Raimondi Cranes supports local community via donation of protective medical equipment to Legnano Hospital

Company News: 11 June 2020

Raimondi Cranes SpA, heritage manufacturer of precision heavy lifting machinery for more than 150 years, donated more than 80,000 pieces of protective medical equipment to the main healthcare facility in its home town, Legnano Hospital, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The move by one of Legnano’s oldest corporations resulted in more than 62,000 surgical masks, 20,000 disposable latex gloves, 250 security goggles and 600 level 3 protective suits being provided to key frontline healthcare workers in the city. Nearly all of the committed supplies have now reached the hospital.

Italy has been particularly badly affected by COVID-19. Medical supplies, particularly in the form of personal protective equipment (PPE) have been in heavily in demand since the pandemic reached the country earlier this year.

Eng. Domenico Ciano, Chief Executive Officer, Raimondi Cranes, said: “As a longstanding member of the Legnano community, it is our responsibility to mitigate in any way we can the far-reaching effects of COVID-19. Hospitals across Italy have faced a severe shortage of PPE equipment, and we are pleased to be able to provide this support package to the hardworking employees in Legnano Hospital.

“Raimondi Cranes would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to all those who are working in the front line against this epidemic, from emergency services to healthcare workers. We are committed to continuing to support Legnano during this time of unprecedented uncertainty.”

The equipment being donated by Raimondi Cranes has already been shipped from overseas and was delivered to Legnano Hospital.

Raimondi Cranes has had a presence in the town of Legnano, which is around 20 kilometres north-west of Milan, since 1863, and is a prominent member of the local community.
